1. Choosing the same print color as the token color

If your design color is too close to the token color, such as light red on dark red, pink on red, or dark colors on black, it will be difficult to read. Always make sure there is enough contrast between the token and the design. This keeps the design clear and easy to recognize for everyone, including bar staff.

2. Adding too many details

It’s important not to overload your custom token with details. This includes text, illustrations, or images. A cluttered design reduces readability, and very small details may get lost during printing. The key is that your message is clear at a glance. Focus on the most important elements and leave out anything unnecessary.

3. No distinction between token values

When designing tokens, it’s essential to clearly distinguish between different uses or values. If multiple uses are shown on the same token color, like a beer icon and a wine icon on a red token, it becomes difficult for staff to quickly tell them apart.

Choose different token colors for each use and consider varying token sizes as well. This ensures clarity, especially during busy moments. Combine our bestseller personalized token in full color from 29 mm with a larger or smaller sized token.

4. Low-quality files or low-resolution images

High-quality files and images are essential for sharp printing. Screenshots or files where you can see individual pixels will result in a blurry print. The better the file quality, the cleaner your design will look on the token.

We recommend submitting files as EPS or a high-resolution JPG. Please note that AI files cannot be processed, as they often contain gradients and are not always suitable for production.

5. Placing your design too close to the edge

You can send us your design, and our graphic designers will make sure it looks exactly the way you want. You can also create your own design. But beware: if your design is placed too close to or over the edge, parts of it may be cut off, because printing never goes beyond the edge. Make sure your design is properly centered within the safe area.

6. Backgrounds in your design

Rectangular or circular backgrounds in the same color as the token can cause issues during production. Rectangular backgrounds are removed by our graphic designers, while circular backgrounds may require us to contact you for confirmation.

If the background is not part of your design, make sure to remove it before uploading your file.

7. Red and transparent tokens with infrared counting machines

Using a token counting machine with infrared light? Keep in mind that red and transparent tokens cannot be detected by these machines. In that case, choose different colors to ensure smooth counting.

Helpful tips to keep in mind

1. Estimate how many tokens you need

It’s helpful to estimate how many tokens you will need in advance, especially if you are ordering custom tokens. If you run out, it is not always possible to place a last-minute order and receive it in time.

Check out our blog on how many drink tokens you need for your event for a quick calculation and useful tips.

2. Plan how you will distribute tokens

Think ahead about how you will hand out tokens during your event. Will you use a counting tray or another method? A good setup ensures fast and organized distribution during busy moments.

Using counting trays? Our trays are available for 500 or 1000 tokens, with each compartment holding 10 tokens.

3. Order in time during peak season

During festival season and special events, order volumes increase quickly. Make sure to place your order in time to avoid delays.

4. Provide your deadline when ordering

Do you need your tokens by a specific date? Always include your deadline when placing your order. You can add this in the comments field on the product page.

Please note that during busy periods, delivery times may vary and cannot always be guaranteed.
